That's not to say that any surgery is a simple procedure. It's never guaranteed to work; you could experience multiple complications, and the healing process can be a painful and long one. But if you're looking for a way to help restore your hair, donor hair transplant is an option worth considering. And if you're going to have the procedure done, it's best to consult Elite Hair Restoration and speak with a Patient Advocate who has ample experience with the procedure and who will walk you through all of the potential benefits and drawbacks.

Before we get started, it's important to understand the difference between follicular unit transplant (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE). FUT is a procedure in which a strip of hair-bearing tissue is removed from the back of your scalp and transplanted to the balding area. In FUE, individual follicles are extracted one at a time from the back of your scalp, and then transplanted one by one into your balding area.

That depends on a few factors. The most important factor is your hair loss pattern. You may have a "frontal" pattern, where your hair gradually thins until it disappears from the front of your scalp and then grows back in at the sides and back of your head. Or you may have a "diffuse" pattern, where all over your scalp is affected by hair loss, which means that even with transplanted follicles from the sides and back of your head those areas will continue to thin out over time. A third type is called "miniaturization," which means that individual hairs are becoming finer with age until they look like vellus hairs (baby hairs). All three types of hair loss can be treated with a FUE (follicular unit extraction) procedure or FUT (follicular unit transplantation) procedure using single or multiple grafts.
